Advent means “coming”. There are actually three (3) advents we should contemplate during this “Advent” season. The first is the incarnation of Jesus which we joyously celebrate on December 25th. The second is Jesus in our lives today – in one another, in His Word, and in the Eucharist. The third is the second coming of Jesus at the end of time.
We are called during the Advent season to look inward and reflect on our relationship with Jesus and how we are living out our baptismal call as priest, prophet and king. As a priest, we are called not only to bridge the gap between others and Jesus but to ensure there is no gap in our own personal relationship with Him. As prophet, we are called to speak and live out the truth of Jesus. As king, we are called to give our lives in service to others. Advent offers us an opportunity to reflect on this three-fold calling and to grow in holiness. May this Advent season draw you closer into relationship with Jesus.
