As we enter into Lent for Cycle “A” of the liturgical year, we are called to remember the Paschal Mystery which is the Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus. We share in the Paschal Mystery in our own life which is important to understand. Often, we try to handle the difficulties (tombs) on our own instead of allowing Jesus to enter the tomb with us and resurrect whatever it might be that we are dealing with in our life. Only Jesus can roll back the stone and bring meaning to what we are going through. I would caveat that we cannot always find meaning in all the events of life. Sometimes the only meaning is there is no real meaning and we are called to let go of the pain, anger, or frustration that we may have and trust and hope in our God who is eternal and promises us the same.
