We often think about RECEIVING the sacraments but we rarely think about becoming what we receive. We are called to be sacrament to the world. The definition of sacrament is an efficacious sign, instituted by Christ, entrusted to the Church, to give grace. Each one of us is sacrament because we are an outward sign to the world, instituted by Christ via our baptism, as members of the Body of Christ (Church), grace flows through us in the relationships we have and the things we do each and everyday. Understanding we are sacrament elevates the importance of what we do as a conduit of God’s grace. Our role of bringing others to Christ is of paramount importance in the world today. The secular world is doing everything possible to distract and pull people away from God. We have a responsibility to open ourselves to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. If we do, God grace will overflow in our lives onto those around us. Come Holy Spirit!
